La société française Vilmorin-Andrieux & Cie naquit, au XVIIIe siècle, de la collaboration entre Philippe Victoire de Vilmorin, marchand et fin connaisseur de plantes et de graines, et de son beau-père, Pierre Andrieux, botaniste officiel du roi. L'entreprise publia un vaste ensemble d'iconographie agrobotanique dont les 46 planches ici reproduites sont extraites.
